Spasticity

Doctor's Hospital understands that the degree of spasticity varies from mild muscle stiffness to severe, painful, and uncontrollable muscle spasms.

Symptoms that we will treat include:

  • hyper tonicity - increased muscle tone
  • clonus -a series of rapid muscle contractions,exaggerated deep tendon reflexes, muscle spasms
  • scissoring - involuntary crossing of the legs and fixed joints

Spasticity may occur in association with spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, or damage to the brain because of lack of oxygen due to a brain trauma.

Outpatient Rehabilitation Programs

Doctor's Hospital offers a broad variety of outpatient programs. Our interdisciplinary team will work with the referring physicians to help with your Vocational Rehabilitation and other outpatient needs.

Doctor's Hospital will provide vocational rehabilitation programs for our patients. A patient's case worker will provide assistance to you when returning to work or school. Our case worker may make home or workplace visitations to help with recommendations for a patient to return to successful environment outpatient rehabilitation a trouble-free success.

Community Health

If your school, organization or club is interested in learning more about a health or medical topic, the Doctor's Hospital Speakers Bureau may be for you. Our health professionals are available upon request to share information and ideas about a number of relevant and timely issues. Some sample speaker topics include but are not limited to:

Hearing Impaired

Arrangements may be made to have a person who uses sign language help a hearing impaired or deaf patient. In addition, specially designed TTD telephone equipment is available.

Interpreters

The hospital has access to interpreters for a number of foreign languages if a patient requires it.

Pastoral Services

When you are admitted, your admitting form asks your religious preference. If you indicate a preference, you may be visited by your church's Pastor. Several members of the area's clergy regularly visit patients.

Patient Education

Patient Education packets are assembled for each patient. Packets are tailored to your specific healthcare needs. Included in the packet is a listing of area community resources and telephone numbers.
